| Albufeira
We stayed
here on our honeymoon back in 1987 and it was certainly my
first holiday in a warm climate for many years. Originally
a Portuguese fishing village Albufeira has developed into
a major holiday resort with beautiful sandy beaches and superb
restaurants where the local speciality is grilled Sardines.
We stayed at the Albufeira
Jardim apartments and found them to be roomy
and comfortable. The resort is well worth a visit, but be warned
it is on the Atlantic coast and so the sea is rather cool!
Places to visit include Portimao, the Monchique Mountains
and the castle at Silves.
Food: Some of the best food here is the freshly grilled Sardines or why not try a Portuguese favourite, chicken Piri Piri.
